Frequently Asked Questions

What are my qualifications to allow me to offer these services?

This is an excellent question! I’ll explain by breaking down the abbreviations after my name: MA, CCC-SLP as these are indications of my qualifications.

After completing four years of undergraduate work at Purdue University, I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Following an additional two years of graduate level work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I earned my Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Upon completion of both these degrees, I earned my license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in Indiana and my Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

With my license and certification, I was able to work in Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, Independent Living Facilities, Memory Cary Units, and Home Health Services for nearly a decade to provide Speech Therapy services to adults and geriatric populations. A great deal of this therapy was provided to address cognitive and communication deficits caused by dementia. As this was a large portion of my daily treatment sessions, I focused my continuing education and professional growth towards dementia care. I have taken specialized courses through Evergreen Certifications to earn my certificate as a Dementia Care Specialist which allows me to build upon my skills as a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide even more specific training, education, and support to caregivers of those living with dementia.

Where do I provide services?

I provide in-home and community-based services. I want to take your limited time into consideration and come to you in your own home. I understand that caregivers of someone living with dementia can struggle to leave their home for appointments because they must be with their loved ones at all times. So I will come to you!

However, if you prefer and are able to meet outside your home, we will discuss and decide upon an agreed upon location within the community. This will allow for a change of scenery if you are constantly at home and/or at work, needing a different setting for your own mental well-being.

I also offer my services for community-based events at local healthcare facilities, religious organizations, senior services events, etc., all of which I will travel to your organization for your convenience.

How do I receive payment?

Services offered are all private-pay. This means that I do not bill my services through any insurance providers, Medicare, or Medicaid. I offer affordable, straight forward prices for individual sessions, group sessions, community sponsored educational events, and public speaking events. I offer full transparency of pricing before sessions are scheduled so you will never have any surprise bills or charges.

Payments are due at time of a session or event. I accept checks, cash, and credit cards. I am unable to accept HSA payments at this time.

What are my business hours?
